Charlie Burbridge

Charles burbridge, Managing director

Charles Burbridge is the Managing Director of Risk Management and International Accounts.  His current role followed a successful period as the International Accounts Director for EMEA where he was responsible for the development of large scale international security accounts in G4S. Previously he had managed large scale US Government contracts in post conflict Iraq.  

Prior to joining G4S, Charles was a Head of Strategy and Credit Review, specialising in distressed debt restructuring in the Global Restructuring Group of Royal Bank of Scotland.

Murray Lauder

Murray Lauder, Director Secure Solutions

Murray joined G4S SS(I) in March 2016 and was appointed as Director of Operations.

Murray retired from the New Zealand Army in August 2007, as a Major with the Royal NZ Artillery after 24 years of service. This service saw him deployed on Operations in Bosnia, East Timor, The Middle East and Afghanistan. He also represented NZ in many exercises and activities throughout the Asia Pacific region. In addition to his operational, training and strategic representational experience, Murray also held a number of Command and Staff appointments, culminating in his final posting as Senior Land Operations Planner at the NZ Joint Force Headquarters.

Upon his retirement from the services, Murray embarked on what has been a highly successful career in the Private Security sector where he has worked as a Project Manager, Training and Development Manager, Business Development Manager and Director of Operations for various organisations. These roles at various times have seen Murray employed at the tactical, operational and strategic levels of the Private Security world and he has gained considerable experience in a full range of security service provision  including: Static, PSD, Aviation, Air Mobile, Convoy and Maritime Security operations. In addition, his employment as a Senior Manager has seen Murray intimately involved in all aspects of Command, Leadership, Management, Client Relations, Business Development, Training, Administration and Logistics.

Chris Pook

chris pook, Country director, iraq

Chris served in 2nd Royal Anglian in Celle and West Belfast in the 1980s before commissioning into 1st Royal Anglian and enjoying further tours of Northern Ireland.  After the army Chris gained experience in commercial property development, corporate and investment banking operations and agency broking and dealing, a field in which he ran his own business.
 
Chris volunteered for service in Afghanistan on Op HERRICK 10, serving in Task Force Helmand Headquarters in Lashkar Gah and with the Battle Group in Musa Qala.  He joined G4S Secure Solutions (Afghanistan) in August 2010, becoming the Managing Director of that business in 2011.
 
In the last two years Chris has worked in Kurdistan and in Libya and has spent time travelling in Lebanon and Oman.  Last year he undertook a 407 mile solo walk from Muscat to Dubai, over the Jebel, and through the desert, raising funds for an injured comrade.
 
Chris has a unique combination of skills gained in finance, the military and in the private security industry.
 
He is enjoying the challenge of working in a complex but rewarding environment, ensuring that G4S deliver the best possible service to clients through an extremely able workforce.

Don Macdonald

don macdonald, ordnance management Director

Don Macdonald spent the latter 13 years of his military service as a Bomb Disposal Operator and licensed on the UK mainland to deal with Improvised Explosive Devices. He has since then implemented and managed Mine Action and Explosive Remnant of War clearance projects in Asia, Middle East, Europe and in Africa.

He has worked for Non – Government Organisations, Commercial companies and the United Nations.

He joined G4S in 2013 and holds a Masters Degree in Business Continuity, Security and Emergency Management. Back to top
Gary Wright

gary wright, Commercial director - risk management services in africa

Gary Wright is highly regarded for his ability to deliver large, complex, and multi-disciplinary service programmes in frontier and emerging markets.  His expertise includes designing security strategy and policy, assessing the conditions for market entry to conflict affected countries, and establishing mission support programmes in low infrastructure environments, with a focus on enabling operational capability for government organisations, multi-lateral agencies and large industrial corporations.  

Gary is a former British Army Officer with over 20 years operational and commercial experience, having held senior roles in Africa and Europe.  He holds an MBA from Westminster University and has the Freedom of the City of London. Back to top
Karl Semancik

KARL SEMANCIK Sr.,                                                     Business development senior consultant - US government programmes

Mr. Karl Semancik, Sr, is an accomplished professional with 40 years of experience in progressively challenging military assignments and private sector roles dedicated to all aspects of nuclear, chemical and biological defense; Counter Proliferation (CP); humanitarian mine action and security.  He served at the senior levels of the Defense Department and the commercial sector in executive decision-making and strategic planning roles.   He has demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and has extensive experience in relations with the Executive Branch, Congress and the international community.

Mr. Semancik serviced in the United States Army for 26 years attaining the rank of Colonel. He served in numerous overseas postings in Germany, Belgium, the Middle East and Alaska serving in both operational units and major international Headquarters.   Additionally, he served at the highest levels of the United States Department of Defense retiring as a Director on the staff of the Secretary of Defense.

Post military retirement in 2003 Mr. Semancik joined Raytheon where he served 15 months in Baghdad, Iraq as a senior Program Manager on a $37M US Government Task Order. Upon his return to the United states he joined ArmorGroup North America as a senior Program Manager for the Department of State Weapons Removal and Abatement Program during which he managed ordnance removal projects in Laos, Albania, Montenegro, Mozambique and Azerbaijan.   He was subsequently given more responsibility at ArmorGroup NA serving as the Chief Operating Officer and President of the organization.  

In 2008 Mr. Semancik joined ANSER Corporation, a not for profit studies and analysis think tank, as a Senior Director. He was subsequently promoted to both Vice President and Senior Vice President where he was responsible for over 250 staff and $80M in gross revenues. Mr. Semancik’s portfolio included all facets of the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of State and other federal agencies.

Mr. Semancik has a Masters of Business Administration from George Washington University.

Dave McDonnell

Dave mcdonnell, consultant advisor - Ordnance management

Dave McDonnell joined G4S in 2016 as a consultant to support the Ordnance Management service offering. Dave studied business at the Chicago Booth University Business School in London and has worked in the sector for over 20 years. Dave has previously held senior management posts at DSL, ArmorGroup Mine Action and Olive Group and is the former Managing Director of G4S Ordnance Management. 

Dave is recognised as an industry leader and is a member of the oversight Board of the Geneva Centre for Humanitarian Demining and is also a member of the Review Board of the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) that sets and oversees the standards that govern the industry. Dave has also lectured at St Andrews University, Cranfield University and to the UN in New York.

Dave is a NATO qualified Advanced Bomb Disposal Officer and IEDD Operator following a full military career in the Royal Engineers. His work in the Ordnance Management Sector since leaving the British Army has seen David develop and implement Ordnance Management programmes in 28 countries globally and to a variety of commercial, Governmental and humanitarian clients including the UN, DFID, the World Bank and NATO.

Gareth Powell

gARETH powell, ordnance management - bUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CONSULTANT

Gareth Powell joined G4S RM in October 2016. His supporting role is to assist with the strategic growth of G4S Ordnance Management Services into C-IED and other Ammunition and Explosives opportunity areas. He is specialized in technical explosives, threat assessment, risk mitigation, training, specialized equipments and programme management.

Gareth’s military rank was Lieutenant Colonel. He served UK MOD as Ammunition Technical Officer (ATO). As a Head of Counter – IED he managed EOD, Search and ECM Strategic Policies, Planning, Training and Explosives Safety operations. His extensive operational experience across C-IED, IEDD and Search and Ammunition and Explosives Management spans across conventional military, police and UK Special Forces.

David Drummond, IT and Electronic security business specialist

David Drummond has 25 years of experience in Middle East and Africa in Information Technology and Electronic Security Business.
